Moi dear Users!
As you’ve probably noticed, there hasn’t been a lot of activity regarding My Own Interactions lately. We know that this can be frustrating because there are many who are waiting for MOI to be released on Android and iPhones. Don’t worry we are still very much dedicated to expanding and improving MOI. However, there is no exact date for when all of this will be released and if you continue reading you’ll hopefully understand why.
My Own Interactions is a passion project that started out as a student project at Åbo Akademi back in 2015. The iPad version and its updates are a result of us dedicating our spare time to creating and improving the app. The reason why there hasn’t been any activity regarding MOI for the past 6 months is that life has come in the way and we’ve had to prioritize family, work and studies. As a result there hasn’t been much time left over for working on MOI, much less on new features. However, there are some milestones. Our team member Fredrik’s master’s thesis about My Own Interaction is finally completed which frees up some of his schedule to work at MOI rather than writing about it. MOI had its first App Store birthday back in November and has been downloaded over 3000 times, which is awesome!
We have very ambitious plans for My Own Interactions that will require a lot of work. What we want is for people to be able to use MOI, regardless of what device they own. We want to introduce cloud storage which means that data can be synced across devices and you’ll be able to share and collaborate with others if you wish. We’re calling this MOI 2.0. To realize this ambition means starting from scratch, which will take time. However, the technologies have evolved a lot since we started out and we’ll be able to make faster progress than before. So now is a perfect time to suggest features or changes that you want to MOI. Please post them as comments on our Facebook -page so that everyone can partake in the creative process.
In order for us to continue working on MOI some aspects of MOI 2.0, like the cloud storage, are most likely is going to be paid features but we haven’t settled on a business model yet. We are, however, very much committed to that the basic concept of the current app will remain free and the things aren’t will be optional and worth paying for.
We are currently starting development on MOI 2.0 and to predict when it will be done is almost impossible. Might take a few month, might take over a year. However, we are working as hard as we can with the resources we have available to us. There will be opportunities for beta-testing later where you can try out MOI 2.0 and help us improve it before it launches. We’ll keep you updated on when that happens.
Thank you for your patience!
